I’m a Sydney-based freelance editor. I’ve worked on publishing and arts projects for 25 years, fuelled by a passion for storytelling, the arts and a curiosity for learning.
My start began in the eighties at Mojo MDA advertising agency, where I co-created national marketing campaigns and wrote copy. Then I completed three degrees in professional writing and literature, and arts management.
My editorial training at Melbourne University Press honed my skills on illustrated books and academic titles. I was a Lonely Planet project editor, where I reigned in the 1200 pp. beast Europe on a Shoestring, one of the company’s largest and most complex guidebooks. As a Lonely Planet editor, I worked with global teams and international authors.
I won a scholarship to be part of the editorial team at London’s Institute of Contemporary Arts who published Nought to Sixty, a lavishly designed hardback celebrating six months of the ICA’s 60th anniversary arts events and exhibitions. I’ve also worked for Australian cultural institutions such as ACMI, the Australian Museum, National Museum of Australia, Powerhouse, the State Library of New South Wales, and continue proofreading Melbourne University Press art books, histories and cultural studies titles.
I mainly work on YA fiction, history, tertiary education content and business reports.
I’m happy to discuss your project with you to identify what editorial services you need.
