Curio snippets, Shopkeepers of Newtown photographic exhibition

A treasure trove project rarely rat-a-tats at an editor’s inbox. This photographic exhibition introduced the unusual shopowners of Newtown. The physical photos were mirrored in a digital app. Viewers use the library app on their smartphone to locate the photograph they’re looking at to learn more about the business and the person, including historical ‘snippets’. I boiled down my research odyssey to pithy comments. I scrolled through online archives, interviewed corset makers, skater dudes, button-shop owners, bondage-wear sellers for those quirky facts, my nuggets of gold, for the exhibition staff to use.
